We recently worked with a large data center company that services more than 27,000 daily interconnections across over 375 available networks in the US. The challenge for this project involved helping the brand promote their unique service grounded on the principles of security, reliability, and scalability to their target audience.
We developed a HTML5 game that promotes their interconnection services using straightforward and fun game mechanics. Data Hop is a game reskin that allows players to interact and know more about the brand in a fun and engaging manner.
Data Hop is an endless runner game where players must collect electronic coins and traverse across networks without bumping into any obstacles such as viruses, malware, and worms. Scoring is based on the coins collected and the distance traveled.
For PC Users, the game can be played either through the mouse or arrow keys. For mobile and tablet users, they play by tapping and swiping on the touchscreen.
Here is a quick preview of the game:
Data Hop was developed through reskinning, also known as rebranding. The game mechanics of the old game, Pet Hop, were adopted and its assets were changed to fit the client’s brand game. Reskinning is an effective present-day digital marketing because of its favorable advantages to brands and agencies.
HTML5 games like Data Hop are useful for helping brands become more recognizable. Unique services such as data centers are considered difficult to market because of its technical nature, but games for marketing allow these brands to become relatable to their target audience.
Aside from having reduced production cost and fast turnaround time, game reskin of HTML5 games also provide additional benefits, such as the following:
1. HTML5 games present services in an efficient manner
Suitable game mechanics allow the audience to know more about the service provided by a business, similar to the case of our Monro Automotive Game. Game elements provide an interactive overview of the range of services without needing lengthy explanations.
HTML5 games, in particular, are easy to reskin and publish which make them a prime choice for making a business’ service known to the public. In addition, these games are compatible with both PC and mobile, regardless of the operating system used. This technology ensures that any marketing campaign is able to reach and engage with a wide but targeted audience without any compatibility issues.
2. HTML5 games make the brand recognizable
Games for marketing often lead to word-of-mouth marketing. Certain products and services in the market become well-known because of others’ recommendation of a brand they’re familiar with. Usually, an advertisement, a promo, or a gimmick is done to improve brand recognition and become a talk among the public. With its appeal, HTML5 games are great ways of doing word-of-mouth marketing to reach interested markets.
Unique and highly technical services aren’t easily marketable, but having efforts to improve marketability and brand recall provide an edge over competitors. The more recognizable a brand is, the better its sales funnel converts.
3. HTML5 games engage the customers using interactive content
Engagement with the market is necessary to be able to connect with the right audience. Interactive content such as branded games provides a great venue to not only make services known but also to get the interest of possible customers. The impact of interactive marketing, such as the use of games for marketing, is estimated to increase by 40% in conversion rate due to its highly-engaging nature.
